BUCKHURST Hill Parish Council has admitted it will have to cut back on some projects in the current economic climate.
The council has just voted for a 4.98 per cent tax increase, but has said some spending will have to be cut back.
A spokesman for the council said: "The small increase in tax has been necessary to meet the council's commitments and the unprecedented increase in energy and utility bills.
"In the forthcoming year it will be necessary to scale back certain projects and shelve others in an attempt to keep the increase to a minimum whilst ensuring the continuation of essential services and community facilities for all residents.
"Local tax payers will however see the completion of projects including the current phase of refurbishment works to the Woollard Centre which should prove to be a valuable asset for the community as a whole."
