A CONSORTIUM led by David Beckham's agent is in talks about buying Leyton Orient.
But the Leytonstone-born AC Milan midfielder is not involved in the bid, contrary to earlier media reports.
A club statement said: "Talks are on-going and it is hoped an announcement will be made in the near future over the ownership and the football management of the football club."
Hearn, who became chairman in 1995, told The Sun: "I've always said I’m a fan of the club but it doesn’t mean I have to be the owner so long as I can guarantee its long-term survival.
"At this stage we’re only in discussions but it only takes a minute to agree something if it’s in the best interests of the club.”
Beckham, 33, was born in Leytonstone and raised in Chingford.
Former Orient striker Kevin Nugent is currently caretaker manager after Martin LIng was sacked.
The O's in 20th place in League One are struggling against relegation.
