MORE than 60 people have been injured at Wanstead and Woodford's tube stations in the past two years, according to documents obtained by the Guardian.

Multiple cases of people falling between platforms and carriages, getting trapped in doors and falling down stairs have been reported between October 2006 and October 2008 at Snaresbrook, Wanstead, Woodford and South Woodford stations.

There have also been several cases of assaults and other violence, including an apparently random attack when a youth was headbutted on a platform at Woodford station.

On another occasion at the stop, a person was injured by a screwdriver during a fight.

There was just one suicide during the same period.

The Transport for London (TfL) data, which the Guardian has exclusively seen, also reveals there have been ten compensation claims for injuries at the stations since 2005.

However only one was ever upheld, when a woman received £398.83 after hurting her elbow on a "faulty seat" at Woodford station.

Demands for cash which were turned down include several incidents when people allegedly became caught in ticket barriers.

One person said they received injuries to their shoulder after they were trapped at Wanstead station, while another claimant said the contents of their bag were badly damaged after a similar case at Woodford station.

Two claims over injuries from falls allegedly caused by uneven walking surfaces were also dismissed.
