A TEENAGER who admitted murdering a love rival has today been jailed for a minimum of 16 years.

Khyrie Hylton 17, of Lushington Terrace, Hackney, admitting stabbing 20-year-old Yusufu Miiro in Walthamstow on July 10 last year.

Mr Miiro was stabbed nine times in the head, chest and arm shortly after visiting his girlfriend in St David's Court, Forest Road, Walthamstow.

The court heard that that Hylton had been in a relationship with 18-year-old Rochelle Sinclair.

But Mr Miiro had also been in a relationship with Miss Sinclair at the same time, which triggered jealousy, said Mark Fenhalls, prosecuting.

Mr Fenhalls said: "That afternoon Yusufu had visited her to help her fill out an application form for college.

"Early evening Yusufu went out to buy some fast food and CCTV captured him returning to the flat.

"At about 8.30pm Rochelle heard a knock at the door and opened it to find Yusufu covered in blood with a stab wound."

Hylton, the brother of X Factor finalist Rachel Hylton, wore a white mask as he carried out the attack, the Old Bailey heard.

Miss Maureen Baker, mitigating, said Hylton was "immature" and had formed an attachment to Rochelle and was frightened about losing her.

Sentencing Hylton, Judge Timothy Pontius said: "There can be no doubt at all that this grave crime was committed as a result of jealousy.

"Rochelle was no longer in a relationship with you but you could not bear the thought of another young man being close to her.

"And I am sure you went looking for Yusufu with an expectation that you would find him there. You killed him in an attack of horrific ferocity."

Mr Miiro's stepfather Yusef Nsubuga said: "I am very happy with the sentence and with what the judge said.

"Yusufu will never come back but I feel happy with what has been done for him.

"Maybe this boy will turn into a good man when he has been inside for a while.

"We will never forget, but we do forgive him."
