FIVE people were rescued from a house fire in Walthamstow last night (Thursday 12th).
Four engines and around 20 firefighters from Walthamstow and Leyton fire stations were called to the three-story building on Hoe Street at around 10:00pm.
Two people from the first floor and three people from the second were led to safety by firefighters using breathing apparatus.
All five were suffering from smoke inhalation and were taken by ambulance to Whipps Cross University Hospital.
Part of the ground floor of the building was damaged.
The cause of the fire, which was under control by 10:36pm, is currently under investigation.
