COMMUTERS face disruption next month as rail workers have voted in favour of industrial action.

Staff at National Express East Anglia (NEAA), which runs services from Chingford to Liverpool Street, have opted to strike over planned job cuts.

Bob Crow, Rail Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) union general secretary, said: "Our members at NEAA have struck a blow against selfish employers who are seeking to slash jobs solely to maintain profits and dividends."

He added that the RMT will meet shortly to decide what action will be taken.

A definite date for the action has not been set, but is likely to be next month.

A separate dispute between RMT and London Overground is "within reach" of being resolved, said Mr Crow.

Nearly 300 workers had voted for industrial action in a dispute over safety, welfare and working conditions.

The action would have affected the Barking to Gospel Oak line, which has a number of stations in Waltham Forest.
