POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was found with head injuries in the early hours of this morning (March 19).
They were called by the London Ambulance Service, who had taken the 31-year-old to hospital after finding him in Stainforth Road shortly after midnight.
He told police he was sitting on some steps behind the Barnardo's building in Church Hill when he was approached by two Asian men.
They offered him a drink and when he refused, they assaulted him.
The victim then called an ambulance from a phone box and was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not life-threatening.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Sapphire Unit at Walthamstow police station on 8345 3276 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
