POLICE believe they may have discovered the identity of a dead man found hanged in Roding Valley Park, South Woodford.
It comes after officers from South West Essex Police contacted Redbridge Police saying a person on their missing persons database matched the description of the body, which was discovered four week ago.
Officers then used keys found among the dead man’s possessions at the scene to unlock the front door of the missing person’s house, which is in Grays, Essex.
No-one was living at the house, but police took a hair from a brush in an attempt to match the DNA with the dead body.
Police said if they have a match they will make the man’s identity public.
It is thought the deceased had no immediate family members, but a police spokeswoman added that one of his distant relatives had been contacted.
Anyone with any information is urged to call police on 8345 1611.
