PLANNED strike action on a Waltham Forest rail line have been suspended to allow further talks to take place.

Employees at National Express East Anglia (NXEA), which runs train services from Chingford to Liverpool Street, threatened to strike on Monday, March 30, over planned job cuts.

But the Rail Maritime Transport union (RMT) has suspended industrial action because ‘significant progress is being made’ in discussions on reducing the use of agency and contract labour.

Bob Crow, RMT general secretary, said: “There is no doubt that the determination of RMT members and their decisive votes for strike action have played a major role in the progress we have made.”
