TWO students from Wanstead and Woodford are limbering up to climb the highest mountain in Africa, while raising money for the country's children.
Alex Corck-Adelman, of Warren Road, Wanstead, and Jonathan Mackie, of Raymond Avenue, South Woodford, will take on the colossal climb this summer, trekking for six and a half days up the 5,985 meter slopes of Kilimanjaro.
The two Nottingham University students - both 19 - will be raising money for the Childreach International charity, which helps children in the developing world out of poverty by building wells and schools.
Over the next four months the pair will be collecting change on the Underground, doing bag-packs at super markets and putting on quiz nights and music events.
Mr Cork-Adelman said: "It's a great opportunity to help people and after the climb we get to work with the children that the money will be going to.
"It's also going to be great to go to a completely different part of the world that we've never been to before.
"I can't wait, it will be one of the best things we've ever done."
