A CHINGFORD yob who beat a reveller to within an inch of his life at a Christmas party has been jailed for six years.
CCTV footage showed Damon Thomas, 40, of Station Road, stamping on a man's head until he was unconscious at a nightclub in Edmonton on December 20.
He was one of a group of men who attacked the 30-year-old stranger, who was at the nightclub celebrating after his work Christmas party.
One of the group approached him and pushed him to the floor before Thomas waded in and started repeatedly kicking him.
The attack left the victim in a coma and he nearly died.
Det Const Mike Stubbins, from Edmonton CID, said: "I am pleased that Thomas has been identified, charged, put before the courts and received a custodial sentence that reflects the seriousness of the offence.
"The victim attended the venue during the festive season and a night that should have been a joyous occasion turned into a very traumatic experience which could have quite possibly resulted in him losing his life."
Thomas was arrested on Christmas Day and charged after witness appeals in local papers.
He was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Monday, March 23.
