A PROPERTY manager is set to become only the second Briton in history to complete a marathon in all 50 US states when he takes part in the Nashville Country Music Marathon in Tennessee.
And to make matters even more interesting, Jack Brooks, will run the race dressed as a Roman centurion to celebrate his remarkable achievement.
Mr Brooks, 57, the group property manager with car dealership Abridge Loughton, has completed over 5,240 miles worth of racing across a range of countries.
In a lifetime devoted to running, he has raced in some of the most remote parts in the world including the Prince of Wales Island, in Alaska, where the event consisted of 18 contestants and 25 bears- making for some very fast finishing times.
Mr Brooks, from Loughton, said: “The two most difficult challenges will be avoiding tripping over my cape and remembering some Latin phrases so I can keep in character.”
He will be running for the St Albans based Grove House Hospice and added: “I have already raised over £1,800 in sponsorship for this marathon which is wonderful, but I have set myself the personal target of reaching over £5,000 to represent every mile of my 200 marathons.”
