V&A Museum of Childhood, Cambridge Heath Road, London Monday, April 6, to Friday, April 10 and Monday, April 13 to Friday, April 17, 10.30am-12.30pm and 2pm-4pm
Behind every great superhero there is a throng of young fans with discarded pillow cases fastened around their shoulders desperate to realise their comic book ambitions. Well, this Easter, they can let their imaginations run wild, as the V&A Museum of Children is running two weeks of fun-packed workshops, trails and arty activities devoted to superheroes.
During the fortnight, your little ones can create their own superhero, become a master of disguise or write an action-packed superhero story at one of the creative workshops, track down the museum’s own superheroes using the incredible trail and get creative with lots of superhero-themed arts and crafts activities.
All events are free but spaces are limited for some activities.
As your darlings immerse themselves in a world of superpowers and baddies, why not lose yourself in some of the exhibitions on display at the museum.
In the upper galleries, Top to Toe: Fashion for Kids, which runs until Sunday, April 19, offers a fascinating insight into children’s clothing from the last 250 years. Drawn from the museum’s own extensive collection, the exhibition features more than 100 items, including a 19th Century Burnous cloak, a 1920s Christening bonnet and the iconic 1970s parka.
While Warli & Weave, in the front room gallery, explores the traditional Indian craft forms of Warli painting and Kutch weave and focuses on how children from two rural communities learn and develop skills critical to sustaining livelihood.

Widow’s Son Inn, Devons Road, Bow, London Friday, April 10, from 11am onwards)
More than 150 years ago a widow stood on the steps of her cottage in Bow clutching a basket of freshly baked hot cross buns awaiting her only son’s return from sea for Easter. He never returned, but each Good Friday the widow would hang a new bun from the ceiling of her house in his memory.
After the widow’s death the cottage became a pub, but the tradition continued and to this day a Royal Navy sailor adds a new bun to the collection every Good Friday. Sailors from across the country also come to pay their respects and a good ol’ knees up is had by all.
