TALENTED student cooked up a Caribbean feast with the help of three top chefs.

Catering students at Redbridge College’s Rouge Restaurant catered for a full house of 60 diners, aided by chefs from the Caribbean Scene Restaurant in Stratford and The Lane Restaurant in Aldgate.

The event was planned and organised by Fadowsa Hussein, 27, as part of her course with dishes including curry goat, fried plantains and jerk chicken.

She said: “I was so pleased with how the event went. I felt I worked really hard to coordinate the event, put my menu together and pull out all the stops to get the chefs to be there.

“I can’t believe they all agreed to come, they made the night extra special.”

Ruddyard Thorpe and Delroy Skeen, Head Chef and Sous Chef at Caribbean Scene and Collin Brown, Head Chef of The Lane in Algate, all spent time in the kitchen working with the Level three students for the fully booked event.

Mr Thorpe said: “It was very nice to be asked to help out at Fadowsa’s event. She worked very hard and the team worked really well together.

“When we got busy and the pressure was on the students pulled it together and that’s the way it should be.”

Rouge Restaurant hosts theme nights every Thursday night during term time.
