Two men suspected of being involved in the murder of Abridge artist Clive Enkel have had their bail extended.
Mr Enkel, 53, a gifted artist, was attacked in his home in Alderwood Drive, on September 25.
The brutal attack was witnessed by shocked neighbours who called the police after reporting a group of men armed with baseball bats had kicked down the front door and entered the property.
Mr Enkel’s elderly father Lou Enkel, 90, was at home at the time and it is believed that Mr Enkel was savagely beaten while trying to protect him.
He died of his injuries in hospital two days later, a post-mortem gave the cause of death as head injuries.
An 19-year-old man, from Benfleet, and 39-year-old man, from Hatfield, in Hertfordshire, have been arrested in connection with the case.
They have been rebailed to appear before police on June 10.
Following the attack, which shocked the quiet community, Essex police stepped up high visibility patrols across the area.
