A CAMPAIGNER concerned about the dangers posed to the environment by large cars has been selected as the Green Party's prospective parliamentary candidate for Walthamstow.
Sarah Cope, 30, of Highgate, will attempt to win the seat for the Greens at the next general election.
Mrs Cope is the co-founder of the Alliance Against Urban 4x4s, along with 2008 London Mayoral candidate Sian Berry.
The seat is up for grabs after sitting MP Neil Gerrard announced plans to retire.
Former Waltham Forest Mayor Stella Creasy is the Labour candidate, Andrew Hemsted, a Chingford Green ward councillor, is contesting the seat for the Conservatives, and former investment banker Farid Ahmed is standing for the Liberal Democrats.
An election must be called by June next year.
At the last election Mr Gerrard won the seat with a majority of 7,993 from the Liberal Democrats.
