POLICE and ambulance crews were called to Leytonstone High Road this afternoon (April 20) after a teenage boy was attacked and stabbed.
The ambulance service sent one crew and one single responder to the scene at about 2.50pm and the boy was taken to hospital for treatment for stab wounds to his leg.
He is believed to be about 17 years old.
Sharjeel Quereshi, 18, who works in Discount DIY on the High Road, made the 999 call.
He said: "It was a couple of boys who beat up this young guy that was on his way back from college - they stabbed him in the leg.
"He came in front of the shop and I told him to lie down while I called 999."
Mr Quereshi then wrapped the victim's leg and waited for the ambulance to arrive.
Police cordoned off part of the road, including a bus stop and a W14 bus, from Brockway Court up to Harrington Road and officers were still in the area at about 7pm.
