COMMUTERS could face disruption when tube drivers on the Victoria Line commence a 24-hour strike tonight.
About 180 drivers from the Seven Sisters depot in north London will walk out from 9pm tonight in a dispute about safety mechanisms on train doors.
The strike could lead to delays on the busy line, which serves Blackhorse Road and Walthamstow Central stations.
Union members claim trains need safety features to prevent them from opening on the wrong side.
Bob Crow, the Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers secretary, said the failure to install the safety mechanisms amounted to "dangerous penny-pinching."
London Underground has said the strike is unnecessary and has pledged to run the best service possible.
