This weekend you won’t be able to move in Camden for skinny jeans and Worzel Gummidge hair, as the annual Camden Crawl takes over the borough for two nights only. With 150 acts playing across 40 venues, Camden Crawl boasts a programme that would leave its muddier festival counterparts green with envy, from established artists and NME darlings, to emerging names and unsigned acts, and all in the comfort of north London without so much as a welly in sight.
In keeping with Crawl tradition and the spirit of discovery, the venue line-ups and stage times remain secret until each night and surprise guests may appear at any time, but we do know that mighty Kasabian and their electronic-style brand of anthemic rock have been confirmed along with pint-sized Coventry rocksters The Enemy, ‘next big thing’ Little Boots and Camden’s very own nutty boys Madness.
Venues including Roundhouse, Koko, Electric Ballroom, Jazz Café, Dingwalls, and Dublin Castle will also see performances from new stars such as the oh-so-cool Frankmusik, plus a ream of established veterans including Echo & The Bunnymen, Idlewild, The Fall, 808 State, Billy Bragg and Wire.
With a line-up like that Camden’s most famous ex-resident Amy Winehouse must be kicking herself that she is stuck on some crummy beach in the Caribbean.
The Camden Crawl runs from Friday, April 24 to Saturday, April 25, from noon to 4am. Tickets holders will receive an all-access wristband and programme guide upon arrival. Tickets: Advance weekend and Friday tickets are available from www.thecamdencrawl.com, but advance Saturday ticket are now sold out. Walk up tickets will be available from the Roundhouse box office from 11am.
