COUNCILLORS will vote tomorrow on plans to partly rename an historic Wanstead building after popular Cllr Allan Burgess, who died in February after a battle with kidney cancer.
The plans, which would see the day service unit of the Cornerhouse complex called 'The Allan Burgess Centre', will be voted on by the council's cabinet.
It comes following news that more than £1,500 has already been raised for a fund set up in his memory.
Officers have recommended cabinet members agree to the name "to recognise the positive contribution to the community that Cllr Allan Burgess made."
Refurbishment works at the Cornerhouse, in Grove Park, are currently nearing completion, but a date for its re-opening as a day centre for the elderly has yet to be finalised.
