Island Girls 3
Redbridge Ladies 11
WHILE the final result was never in doubt, league champions Redbridge Ladies met a determined Island Girls' side on the last day of the season.
Redbridge were one up after only three minutes of play with Pogmore scoring from a neat pass by Edwards.
Three minutes later Edwards scored her first of two goals. Pogmore scored again with Greenway and central defender Probert adding to the Ladies' toll.
Two more goals came before half time from De Ferry and defender Al-Mudallal, her first of the season.
Redbridge could have added more after Culley's rocket of a volley went inches wide and would have been the goal of the match had it gone in.
Skelton was the busiest player on the pitch defending, assisting and attacking in quick succession throughout both halves.
Peattie was stout in midfield feeding accurate passes to the forwards and blocking many Island attacks before they could get going.
Despite the seven goal deficit, Island Girls counter attacked well and would have narrowed the scoreline but for some great saves from goal keeper Fuwa. In the end they scored a deserved goal in the last two minutes of the first half.
Early in the second half, Hargreaves scored after a brilliant piece of team football started by Culley's well placed throw-in and De Ferry's clever chip.
Island then scored two quick goals, a fitting reward for their persistence throughout the game. But within a minute, Redbridge reasserted their authority with De Ferry scoring her second and Pogmore getting her hatrick two minutes later.
Fuwa again kept Island at bay as they tried to narrow the scoreline. Edwards scored the final goal of the match to end Redbridge's season on the high it deserved.
