STAFF at a South Woodford primary school are celebrating after receiving a glowing report from inspections body Ofsted.

Oakdale Juniors got an overall rating of “good” - an improvement on their previous report in 2005 when they were rated simply as“satisfactory”.

The report said: “Oakdale Junior school provides its pupils with a good standard of education and the vast majority of parents and pupils agree.

“Overall, pupils make good progress and reach above-average standards in English, mathematics and science. Standards in art and in information and communication technology (ICT) are high. This is because teachers are enthusiastic and keen to provide pupils with exciting and stimulating lessons.

“The caring and committed headteacher and her diligent deputy headteacher are clearly focused on moving the school forward.”

However the inspectors, who visited Oakdale in March, said the school could still improve the attendance levels of certain pupils, and more effort needed to be made to raise the achievement of boys.
