THE proportion of local people employed on the Olympic site has dropped by three per cent.
According to figures released by the Olympic Delivery Authority yesterday (April 29) there are now fewer people from the five host boroughs working on the site compared with the number of workers from elsewhere.
Liberal Democrat Olympic Spokesperson Tom Brake said: “We were promised that the Olympics would bring long-lasting benefits to some of the most deprived parts of London.
"The drop-off in the proportion of jobs going to local people is a serious concern.
“When so many people are employed on the Olympic site, it is important that as many jobs as possible go to local people."
So far, only 364 people have so far taken up trainee, apprenticeships and work placements at the Olympic site.
The Government’s target is to get at least 2,250 into employment opportunities there.
