PUPILS at Forest School were treated to a feast of marshall arts action when it hosted a prestigious international karate tournament.
The Ryukyukan Karate Organisation contest, which is named after a chain of islands south of Japan, saw a group of talented youngsters battle it out in a variety of ancient disciplines.
Tournament organiser Craig Finch said the two-day event had been a great success.
He added: “We enjoyed the very warm welcome that we received as much as the excellent facilities which Forest has to offer.”
Wayne Bishop, manager of the Sylvestrian Sports Centre at Forest School, said: “It was the first time that we had hosted such a prestigious karate tournament, but we now know that our facilities can cope with such programmes.
"Sport at all levels has an increasingly wide appeal, and we are delighted to have Forest and the Sylvestrian Centre recognised as a first-class venue for all disciplines and at all levels of skill.
"Now that we are fully accredited in terms of disability-provision, we can be sure that we are providing opportunities for sporting endeavour and excellence for all comers”.
