A BEAST was the inspiration for pupils art work produced for their GCSE exam.
Students at St John's School in Epping spent two years building up a portfolio of work to submit for their course work and were given the theme of 'The nature of the beast.'
Parents and governors were invited to a special exhibition of their work at the school before it is marked by examiners.
Head of Art Helen Turner said: "We wanted them to look at a wide spectrum and they designed pieces to go in a museum, so it gave them the opportunity to explore not just their artistic talents but the idea behind the theme as well.
"We like to develop the social and emotional aspects of learning so we don't just teach them artistic skills but also look at their emotional well being, which is shown through their art work.
"As always we had a high standard and parents were very pleased. It was a celebration of all they have achieved during the last two years."
