FANTASTIC food in Wanstead and Woodford has been recognised again with yet another restaurant getting into Time Out's celebrated Best Cheap Eats guide.

George’s Fish and Souvlaki Bar, in South Woodford's George Lane, joins Wanstead High Street's Vietnamese stalwart Nam An and Bel-Sit Pizzeria, in Woodford Green High Road, in the latest 2009 edition.

George's proprietor George Nicola said he was delighted to be included in the prestigious list of top quality value-for-money eateries.

He added: "I've been trying to get into Time Out for years as it's a very good publication with lots of great stuff about restaurants, clubs and bars in London.

"We have been running pretty consistently recently and the shop has been doing very well since we had the chip award with people coming from all over London to eat with us."

In February George appeared on national television after being crowned the finest provider of chips in the capital after winning the London heat of the Perfect Portion competition.

And it is not just food critics that he has been winning over, also making his mark fundraising for Redbridge Mayor Loraine Sladden's chosen charities of Haven House children's hospice and the Dream Factory.

He added: "We have been raising money for the Mayor's Challenge and got an award last week as the restaurant that raised to most for her appeal.

"It's nice to get awards as it makes all the hard work worthwhile."

Bel-sit pizzeria manager Marco Musiu said he was proud to be recognised once again.

He said: "It nice to know and means that we must have been doing something right over the last 29 years.

"I don't know really what the secret is and sometimes that's better not to know - you have to ask some of our customers.

"Most of the people who come into our restaurant come from the local area and some have been eating here for years."
