SELFLESS secondary school students have set themselves a tough fund-raising target for a charity mission abroad.
Almost 20 pupils at West Hatch High School, in Chigwell High Road, have signed up to the World Challenge scheme which will see them fly to Brazil next year to help build a new school.
Before they set off, they each have a mission to raise £3,000 with a number of events already held including a dress as super hero day and an over 16s party.
Future fund-raisers will include a sponsored swim, talent contest and charity auction for which pupils have been writing off to companies and celebrities for prizes.
So far they have received a Formula 1 shirt and a signed photograph of Chigwell’s very own business success story Sir Alan Sugar.
They are now looking towards local businesses and members of the community to help them further with sponsorship or raffle prizes.
Anyone interested in supporting the venture is asked to call the school on 020 8504 8216 and mention World Challenge 2010.
