A FREE seminar about cultural studies will be held at the University of East London (UEL) ext Thursday (28).

The seminar will be attended by researchers and postgraduates and will discuss multiculturalism, second hand markets in the East End and reality television programmes in Asia.

Ashwani Sharma, UEL global media lecturer, said: “This seminar is at the forefront of topical issues and we are expecting an interesting and lively debate and discussion.

"We will cover local, global and political concerns and there will be something for everyone.

“Cultural studies is an important subject that links into a much wider picture, especially with the emergence of issues that affect people world-wide, such as the recession.

"The seminar will also highlight the pioneering quality of work produced by UEL postgraduates and give everyone a chance to have their say.”

Cultural studies combines a number of areas of study including political science, sociology, film studies and literary theory.

The seminar, begins at 3pm and will be held at the West Building.
