POLICE are appealing for witnesses of a brutal attempted robbery.
The victim withdrew £4,000 cash from Barclays Bank, Chadwell Heath, at 2.20pm on Monday, April 27, and drove along the High Road towards Goodmayes.
He turned right into Barley Lane and stopped outside a newsagents, but when he returned from the shop to his car he was attacked by two suspects.
However, the suspects were unable to get the money and made off across Barley Lane into Primrose Avenue.
A Police spokesman said: "Both black males, one aged approx. 23 years, 5ft 11in wearing a black hooded top and bottoms, the other male aged approx. 20 years, 5ft 9in.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to this, anyone with any information should contact Detective Seargant Chris Galpin at Ilford Police Station on 8345 2610.
