A FAMILY-RUN brewery is holding a tour to mark its opening.
Brother and sister partnership James and Elizabeth Brodie have successfully revived east London’s brewery tradition by opening Brodie’s Beers in Leyton.
They are holding a tour for beer enthusiasts to learn about brewing techniques and to taste some of the beers including a pale ale, a fruity dark mild and a Bavarian-style cask lager.
East London has a brewery tradition and as recently as 1975 it boasted three major producers, Charrington, Mann Crossman Paulin and Truman.
Brodie’s is a small operator providing natural cask-conditioned products and sourcing from local maltsters and hop farms. It also only distributes in central and east London.
The tour is on Thursday May 28, meeting at 6.30pm at Walthamstow Central Station, Station Approach, Hoe Street exit next to platform one rail service.
A visit to the Nag’s Head pub in Walthamstow village will be followed by a trip to Brodies Beers, Sweet William Brewery, High Road, Leyton, next door to William 1V Pub. Visitors can meet there at 8pm also.
The cost is £7 including a buffet. Drinks will be on offer at £1.99 a pint and £1 a half.
