MORE than 2,500 women have already signed up to take part in a charity fun run for Cancer Research.
The Race for Life event at North Weald Airfield takes place on July 15, and organisers are hoping 5,000 women will take part.
Cancer Research UK event manager for Epping Lucy Hynes said: "Many women are put off entering Race for Life because they think they won't be able to complete the 5k course. But actually it's an achievable distance for most.
"We know that women often cover several kilometres on an average shopping trip, without even realising it."
Last year 3,200 women took part in the North Weald event and helped raise £227,000 for Cancer Research UK.
This year the charity hope 5,000 will sign up and organisers have set a fund raising target of £230,000.
Ms Hynes added: "Cancer affects one in three people in the UK. So for many, Race for Life is a chance to share the spirit of sisterhood on the day while reflecting on loved ones whose lives have been touched by the disease."
