A GROUP of talented young performers have shown off their skills by reaching the finals of a hotly fought dance contest.

Youngsters from the Streetz Ahead troupe, based in South Woodford, saw off stiff competition from dozens of other dancers from across London to reach the last stages of Festival 4 Stars.

Charlotte Power, 9, stole the show with her solo display in the under-11s semi-final, which she won to clinch a place at the regional finals in September.

The youngster impressed the judges with her energetic ‘street’ style - winning comparisons to George Sampson, the winner of last year’s Has Britain Got Talent competition.

Michelle Hawkes, who runs Streetz Ahead from Holy Trinity Scouts Hall, in Hermon Hill, praised Charlotte’s performance.

She said: “She is really excited and loves competing.

“She is moving to Norwich but plans to come back to train with us so she is ready for September.”

Charlotte’s club-mate Natasha Pearce, 16, also won through to the semi finals in her age group, where she performed an impressive range of street and jazz techniques.

The club’s junior group, aged 9 to 16 years, won their section with an impressive performance of cascada, and went through to the semi finals, where they just missed out on a place in the final.
