A FORMER clippie from the 1950s was treated to a trip down memory lane with an 80 birthday surprise bus ride.
Olive Dawson, of Beamish Close, North Weald, loved her old job working on a routemaster bus in London so much her friends and family hired one for her birthday.
Sixty of them joined her on the much-loved old bus which travelled from her home to London for a sight-seeing tour.
The group stopped off at Alexandra Palace for a quick photo shoot before ending their trip at a pub near St Paul’s for a quick celebratory buffet.
Olive said she was delighted with her birthday present adding: “It really brought back memories of when I worked on the route 9 around London. It felt great dinging the bell and shouting 'Move down the bus, hold tight!' again.”
