A MAN is in a serious condition after being shot in the chest.
The shooting, at Frinton Mews, Gants Hill, happened at around 2am this morning.
The man, who is believed to be in his early 20s, is currently being treated in hospital.
The incident is being investigated by the Met's Trident team, who deal with black-on-black violence.
A police spokeswoman said: "We were called by a member of the public at approximately 2am to reports of a man shot at Gants Hill roundabout, junction with Cranbrook Road, Ilford.
"Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and discovered a man - believed aged 20 years old - suffering a gunshot wound.
"He was taken to an east London hospital where he remains in a serious condition."
No arrests have been made.
