TALENTED students at a Barkingside secondary school helped raise an impressive £1,093 for charity at a special music night.
Staff and students at King Solomon High, in Forest Road, raised the cash for Chai Cancer Care, which is the school's chosen charity of the year.
More than 200 students attended the 'KS Factor' event, which saw 14 acts battle it out in an X-Factor style competition.
After a closely-fought contest, a judging panel of staff decided to crown student Ellis Robinson the winner for his rendition of Mack the Knife.
Staff organiser Naomi Carmel Brown said she was delighted by how the evening went.
She added: "The event was a huge success, and thoroughly enjoyed by all."
Colleague David Bernstein agreed.
He said: "We could not have done this without the co-operation and unstinting hard work of everyone who took part.
"It was an amazing team-effort, and we are very proud of all our students."
