MORE than 100 people have attended a screening of a film designed to highlight the issues of climate change.
Screened at the Asian Centre in Orford Road, Walthamstow, on May 22, 'The Age of Stupid' stars Pete Postlethwaite OBE as a man living alone in a world devastated by climate change.
The event, organised by Transition Waltham Forest, also included a group discussion and a follow-up meeting is to be held on June 2 between 7.30pm and 9pm at the Hornbeam Centre, in Hoe Street, Walthamstow.
Paul Gasson, an IT manager of Walthamstow and a member of Transition Waltham Forest, said: "The Age of Stupid powerfully focuses on why we need to act now to stop climate change.
"It was a positive experience to watch the film in our local community with so many people, and gave a taste of how we can work together to achieve deep rooted change."
The follow-up meeting will offer information on what Transition Waltham Forest is doing to combat climate change and will also provide details of how to get involved.
Transition Waltham Forest is part of the Transition Network, a global initiative designed to bring communities together to come up with ways to address climate change.
Drop-in sessions are also held every Saturday from 2.30pm to 4pm at the Hornbeam Centre for those who want to find out more.
