MEMBERS of two churches enjoyed a pilgrimage walk to St Albans Cathedral.
A team of 18 worshippers from Loughton’s Baptist Church and Methodist Church walked the 24 miles to the cathedral as part of a scheme to encourage alternative forms of Christian worship.
Walking through Epping Forest, the Lea Valley, and Hertfordshire they arrived at their destination in time for a communion service.
Rev Tony Morling, who led the pilgrimage, said “I was delighted that so many people of all ages took part. The youngest was five the oldest was in his 70s.
“The Pilgrimage was not a competition rather an opportunity to travel together and experience the special bond of walking towards an ancient place of worship together.
“It was a very powerful experience and I doubt that those who took part will ever forget the sense of achievement when they arrived at St Albans Cathedral”.
