THERE has been a sharp fall in the number of young people killed or seriously injured on the borough’s roads.
A total of nine people between the age of 13 and 19 were the victims of a serious road traffic incident in 2008, compared to 22 in 2006.
The fall in Waltham Forest is reflected across London, where there was a seven per cent decrease in serious accidents involving young people last year.
The number of young people killed or seriously injured on the roads has halved since 2000.
A campaign by Transport for London features posters with a stark image of a young person who appears to be standing against a wall but is actually lying dead on the road.
