A MAN was left lying "covered in blood" after being attacked outside controversial nightspot Funky Mojoe's.

Witnessed described the "scary" scene after a young man got caught up in an apparent brawl on the pavement outside the bar in the early hours of Saturday morning (May 23).

Police said they arrested a 30-year-old man outside the venue, which is in South Woodford High Road, shortly after 1.40am.

He was cautioned and then released without charge.

The victim, aged 25, was at first treated at the scene by an ambulance crew, but on closer examination medics decided to rush him to Whipps Cross Hospital as "a priority."

One bystander, who did not wish to be named, told the Guardian: "It was all quite scary. I just didn't know what to do.

"He was lying on the floor and he was covered in blood. He looked quite badly beaten up."

It comes just weeks after glamour model Danielle Lloyd was punched in the face at the same venue.

The bar has also attracted complaints from residents living nearby, who say noise levels from the bar are making their lives a "misery."

The bar is currently facing a review of its licence by Redbridge Council.
