A PACKED audience attended a charity concert to raise money for ovarian cancer.
June Gould, 76, of Spring Grove, Loughton, organised the concert at St Mary’s Church, in Loughton High Road, after she was recently treated for the disease.
After enlisting the help of Loughton Ladies’ Choir for the concert, Mrs Gould and her friends raised £1,120 on the day towards cancer treatment.
Conducted by Elna Green and with a solo performance by Pamella Collings, the choir performed a range of hymns and songs including extracts from the musicals Oliver! and The King and I.
Mrs Gould, 76, of Spring Grove, Loughton, said: “I was recently treated at the University College London Hospital. I had wonderful treatment I really did, and the consultants were wonderful.
“Tea and cakes were served during the interval and the afternoon ended with a rousing rendition of Oom Pah Pah. Many people will benefit from this.”
