A VEGETABLE stall is being held to promote growing your own beans.
On Saturday from 10am-2pm, at the Hornbeam Centre, Hoe Street, Walthamstow, this year’s regular vegetable plant stall will focus on beans.
Clare Joy from Organiclea, the Wood Street group organising the sale, said: “A gardener’s chance of beating the slugs is dramatically increased by planting out healthy seedlings.
“Early June is a good time to do this, so get your bean poles ready and prepare for your own-grown grub.”
There will be unusual heritage varieties of beans available and advice on how to save seeds for next year’s growing season.
Information will also be available about gardening courses run with Community Learning and Skills Service (CLaSS Waltham Forest) will be available.
To help gardeners to start growing, Forest Recycling Project has donated free plant pots.
There will also be squash, cucumber, chilli peppers, tomato and herb plants grown by Organiclea at their site in Chingford.
