DREAMS of superstardom are still very much alive for a determined Woodford Green teenager - despite her crashing out of the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent.
Megan McKenna, 16, of Forest Approach, and her friend Demi Bennetts, 15, dazzled millions of television viewers by bursting out of a huge pink birthday cake and singing a quirky verison of 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' by Cindy Lauper on the hit TV show.
But despite winning the backing of panel members Piers Morgan and Amanada Holden, the pair - who performed as Harmony - failed to get enough public votes to stay in the competition.
However, the girls' gloom was soon lifted when they received a call from a fan who asked them to perform at a special event during the next few weeks, and Megan said she hoped this was a taste of big things to come.
She told the Guardian: "I am really tired because of all the practising and performing has been exhausting, but it was a fantastic experience.
"Obviously I'm sad we went out of the competition, but we have already had interest from people wanting us to perform, and we are hoping to be included in the Britain's Got Talent tour later this year.
"Me and mum came up with the cake idea. We thought it would be great, because it's every girl's dream to have a massive pink cake and to be dressed in a pink outfit, having fun on stage.
"We haven't got any clear plans for the future yet, but we're both determined to succeed."
The former Woodbridge High School pupil was disappointed by the comments of judeg Simon Cowell, who criticised the girls' singing.
But fan Holden was so impressed by their performance - which included the pair throwing mashed potato at each other on stage - that she asked is she could join their group.
