A youth group has recieved a cash windfall from a county council fund, partially decided by young people.

The Bridge Project, based in a former church site on Princes Road, Buckhurst Hill was one of the lucky groups to get a £24,800 windfall from the ECC Community Initiatives Fund.

Michael Harden, Facilities and development manager at the Bridge Project said: "Its brilliant news, the young people are already very positive about the centre and this extra money will definitely be a big boost to the project."

He pointed out that Buckhurst Hill was often overloooked when it came to youngsters, adding: "Its one of those places where you think everything is alright, but when talkign to young people you realise its not. There are very few facilities here for youngsters, there are kids from broken homes or whose parents are out working all the time."

The cash will go to equip a new drop in centre, to be used as an informal training and drop in centre for youngsters in Buckhurst Hill.

This is the second round of funding the centre has had from the County Council - with £100,000 going to improve the structure for health and safety previously.
