A PACKED weekend of activities gets underway in Abridge on Friday (June 12) as the village prepares for its annual summer festival.
Events kicks off with a black tie Summer Ball in a big marquee behind the village hall in Ongar Road on Friday evening, while Saturday will feature a craft fair, antiques fair, and vehicle festival between 11am and 4pm.
On Sunday the carnival starts at 1pm with floats parading through the village before returning to the Green on the Pancroft for 1.30pm. An afternoon of fun will feature a farmers’ market, a jazz band, a show from the Medieval Society, the Harlow Airforce Cadets, the Winchester Twirlettes, and up to 40 sideshows.
There will also be three hard-fought ‘ostrich races’ run by parents of the pre-school.
Admission costs £3 for adults and is free for children.
