REVENGE was a dish served cold when pupils drenched their teachers with water pistols and custard pies during a charity event at Bancroft’s Prep School.
Youngsters at the school, in Woodford Green High Road, got their own back for years of horrible homework and maths lessons by giving staff members a soaking to raise money for cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
Pupils got the chance to swap their usual uniform for their own clothes on the day, and took part in a range of quirky activities including a skipping race, sponsored silences and obstacle courses.
The youngsters also had the opportunity to have a go at archery or even face off with their headteacher in a game of badminton.
The school’s marketing officer, Karen Rogers, said: “Getting wet and covered in goo was very much the order of the day.
“What eight year-old hasn’t dreamed of the chance to drench their deputy headteacher, or throw custard pies at their maths teacher?“
Fellow staff member Allison Moor added: “Last year we raised over £4,300 for three charities including the Princess Royal Trust for Carers. We hope to raise even more money this year.
“All the children really throw themselves into the day’s events, planning their own stalls, coming up with new ideas and competing to see which can raise the most money.
“Charity Day is one of the big, fun events in the school calendar.”
The school is still counting the amount of money raised at this year’s event.
