I am very sad to hear Hollow Ponds’ demise (‘Money needed to stop Hollow Ponds dying out’, Guardian, May 21).
We have lived here for 30 years and have seen how this area is treated.
Pollution? Yes, but it is people that have ruined it. Rubbish everywhere, some thrown into the ponds.
Humans using it as a toilet. Bikers and joggers shouting at you to get your dog out of their way.
There are many forms of pollution. Many locals no longer go there.
It will become like the rest of the area – ruined.
