WEST Hatch High School has praised a retiring governor for “a lifetime’s commitment to education”.
Ann Miller has stepped down from the Chigwell High Road school after 35 years of service- 26 as chairman of governors.
Parents, staff, and pupils past and present attended a leaving event for Mrs Miller with many offering tributes to her hard work and dedication.
Head boy Nathaniel Rogers offered a speech on behalf of the student body, and the evening also saw several musical pieces played, and food served from the school’s catering students.
Headteacher Frances Howarth said: “The school over the years has become very popular and successful. None of this would have been possible without the dedication and commitment of Mrs Miller. She has provided West Hatch with stability, purpose and a great sense of self belief.
“She has been a wonderful public servant and has steered the school through a tremendous amount of change. The school has flourished under her leadership. She has a deep understanding of young people and has always had the best intent for our students at heart. She will be sorely missed.”
