A CHEF who killed his friend in a frenzied attack after they fell out over money has been jailed for life.

Oral Seaton, 45, was sentenced to 18 years in prison after stabbing Winston Dowe-Stephenson, from Walthamstow, in September last year.

Mr Dowe-Stephenson suffered 116 knife wounds caused by a carving-like knife.

Luton Crown Court heard Mr Dowe-Stephenson planned to move to Turkey and buy a flat.

After hearing his plans, Seaton decided to join him and borrowed £30,000 from Mr Dowe-Stephenson to buy a flat of his own.

But Seaton only repaid £10,000 of the loan and the two fell out.

Seaton went to Mr Dowe-Stephenson's flat in Luton and attacked him.

In an impact statement read out in court, Winston's son Jermaine Dowe-Stephenson, of Clarendon Road, Walthamstow, said: "The thought of life without him - not being able to hear his voice- anguishes us. It is hard to imagine and deal with the excruciating and prolonged death that he suffered.

"Then reality hits you and you have to accept that the events are not a dream or a horrific nightmare and dad will never be coming back."

He added: "Dad was not only a loved father, son, brother, uncle and cousin, but a loving and supporting grandfather. He always enjoying time spent with his three grandchildren as they overwhelmed him with joy and genuine happiness.

"He was always available to us all. The grandchildren miss him terribly and when they ask us about him, it breaks our heart to have to tell them that Granddad is in heaven and they will not see him again.

"What we all as a family have lost is irreplaceable and many friends are grieving as well. We all feel he has been stolen from us unwillingly, and at the hands of another as it was not his time to go.

"The way in which my father's life ended is something you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy."
