This years Stapleford Tawney Flower Festival at St Mary's Church on the 13 and 14 June will have a poetic theme.
Twenty-four poems ranging from classics to modern works will get a floral interpretation at the picturesque church on Tawney Lane, Stapleford Tawney.
The theme was chosen to celebrate the appointment of the first female Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy.
It will also be a chance to celebrate Ongar's own lady poet, Gill Houghton, who has just published a book of poetry entitled "Soapbox"
The free event will also feature live poetry readings, Limerick contest, car washing, tombola and a raffle, as well as plenty of childrens' activities.
Refreshments, including home made cakes will be on offer throughout the weekend.
