YOUNG stars celebrated a winning year of football while raking in the awards at Jewish Care's annual ceremony.
There was no shortage of high achievers at the Sinclair House community centre this week when more than 200 parents and children attended the annual football awards.
The group celebrated their most successful year yet, after becoming triple cup winners with the under 12s, under 14s and under 18s teams all storming to victory.
Guests were welcomed by businessman Jon Jacobs, who as a volunteer has been the football coordinator for the centre’s eight teams since 2001 and also sits on the centre’s management board as the “voice of youth”.
Mr Jacobs said: “This is the seventh year of the football programme at Sinclair House and is our most successful year yet.
"We have had lots of kids playing for us and the programme here goes from strength to strength.”
A testament to the great football talent in Redbridge,17-year-old David Castle, who is the only person to have been selected from the Redbridge area to play in the Maccabiah games in Israel, received the ‘Trainer Award,' which was picked up on the night by his father Philip Castle who also sponsors the team.
Richard Shone, Redbridge JCC’s Centre Manager, said: " The ceremony was a fantastic night for sports and youth in the Redbridge community.”
He added: “It’s our most popular award ceremony and the football programme is a huge part of the centre.
"We are especially grateful all of our football managers who give up their time and volunteer to do such a great job for the kids.”
